As it is a very nice day (sunny and 20C with a pleasant breeze), I decided to finally remove the ugly sun-ruined dealership sticker the Mazda dealership I bought my car from back in 2013 had stuck on it when they sold it used.
One glass scraper, much careful CAREFUL scraping, some WD40 on a cleaning chix cloth and 10 minutes of my time later, voila! (P.S. - Did you know that apparently WD40 can be used as a cheap ‘Goo-B-Gone’ without damaging anything? It even says on their website! Who knew!)
Excuse the very pollen-y and dusty car!
Before! Ewww. At one time it was perfectly clear and looked OK enough that I had just left it on, but now it looks like an ugly wart...
Easy does it with the little glass scraper....it worked damn well and I didn’t even need to be as careful as I thought to avoid scratching the paint!
Slowly but surely....I started at the bottom corners and worked my way to the center.
Done! And the WD40 did an awesome job of removing the sticker residue....had to clean the area up with clean water and another clean cloth to wipe it down and dry it after to remove the little remaining oil, but otherwise, looks pristine!
What’s been on your automotive plates today Oppo? :)

Only thing I did this morning was swap targa tops on the C5. It’s already getting too hot for the glass roof. Got in the car yesterday afternoon and every surface was within 15 degrees of the surface of the sun. Looks like the solid black roof will be on the car until October. :/

Once I clean up the house I’m gonna go get a skinny enough driver to be able to remove my serpentine belt and try to diagnose the intermittent squeaking it’s been having.

I was going to ask if it moved under it’s own power....but we’ll celebrate the little things :P

We’ve had very little snow compared to the norm for the last 2 winters and the used winter tires I had bought both years had the fronts (FWD car) wear out as a result...no idea why both sets wore out so quickly, but I’ve already purchased a nearly-new used set for next year so I can sell the ones I used this winter...the back two are perfectly fine, but the front two have had it. I don’t drive it hard either!
I don’t have any all season/summers yet though, so trying to find a set still! :(
My last two sets of tires (last set of winters before this year and the set of all-seasons I had last year) both became extremely feathered despite the fact I’ve had TWO alignments done. It could be worn suspension, but I had that checked at two garages and both said the suspension was OK...? I’m stumped as the car never used to do this when I first got it....still thinking the suspension is shot, but I guess it’ll be a little while yet before I can afford to replace it!

Boo! More driving is required! :P

Won’t it still be not all that much better considering black attracts heat?

My power steering belt squeals at full lock sometimes! But only at FULL lock one way or another....if I hold the wheel barely before full lock then it’s fine! :P

It will undoubtedly still get very warm inside, but at least I won’t have the sun beaming straight down onto the leather seats, center console, shift knob, and steering wheel all day long.

I took it outside and blew the stuff that had been tracked in out of the garage and started my generator (to let it burn some gas for about 15 min to recharge the battery and move some oil around). Vacuumed both cars after that.
This was followed by a trip to the hardware store for some feet for my shelves, which turned into picking up a bunch of plants, potting mix, fertilizer, etc.
Moved my winter tires, put the shelves together, put the tires in a new spot...
I finally planted my new shrubs in the pots next to my garage and took a shower...

Bought two of these:
and one of these:
So that on Monday, when my weekend occurs, I can drill holes in the ends of my bumper and stop if from flopping around with the currently broken plastic tabs that are supposed to keep it in place...

You’ve been far busier than me! I still have to get my winters off, but can’t do that until I find a set of summers first!

Wait... you only own one set of wheels & tires for your car?! It’s far too warm to still have winters on!
I have a stack of winters or summers sitting behind my car in the garage, depending on the season. Two entire sets of wheels and tires.
The other day I had a crazy idea for the spare set, but don’t know if I’ll ever be able to build it... Might be a killer product for the racing set.

I own two sets of rims - the original steelies and hubcaps for my winters (currently still installed), a new (used but nearly new) set of winter tires for next year as my current set is mostly shot, and a set of ‘98 Ford Escort alloys for my Accent which have no tires at the moment because I tend to by my tires used to save a lot of money and I haven’t found a good set of summers yet....might have to bite the bullet and buy some brand new summers.

I’m impressed by your dedication. I’m far too lazy to go to lengths to acquire used tires, do the unmount/mount of them, etc. Probably worth the savings, though, especially if you buy them in the right season (winters now, summers in the fall).

You can get some really good deals...the ‘new’ used winters I mention above I got from a lady who sold them to me for $40 FOR THE WHOLE SET of 4 and they were only used for like 1000km. They were on her daughter’s car before her daughter crashed it and she just wanted them out of the way as they were taking up space in the garage and didn’t fit her daughter’s new car. :)
